APAC Itauna Hosts the 15th Journey to Freedom in Christ Workshop

From 4-7 December 2008, 90 participants from the three regimes of APAC Itauna participated in the Journey to Freedom in Christ Workshop (called the Jornada). For many, the Jornada -- an intensive retreat including presentations, time for prayer, and various other activities – is considered a highpoint in the APAC methodology.

Participants have the opportunity to meditate on their lives and how they arrived to the place they are in. They are also asked to reflect on their relationships with their neighbours, their families and God. For many it is a watershed moment where God is revealed not only through the presentations and times of mediation but also through the acts of love performed by volunteers, officials in the justice system, and relatives of the recuperandos (APAC participants).

The theme of the 15th Jornada was “It’s not enough to change conduct, it’s necessary to change thinking.” Presenters included a judge, both Catholic and Protestant clergy, current recuperandos, and ex-recuperandos. The Jornada is held each December.
