PF Chile Expands APAC-based Units to More Prisons

After launching the country’s first APAC-based prison unit earlier this year for 100 inmates in Iquique, Chile, PF is helping the national chaplaincy organisation to develop the faith-based units in 14 more prisons.

The Prison Service recently granted PF permission to extend the programme to these prisons. PF is also helping inmates in the women’s prison to improve their skills and their surroundings with two new programmes. The first encourages the prisoners to transform their cells into warm living spaces by cleaning, decorating and painting the walls using donated supplies. Volunteers are also playing classical music for two hours a day to lend to the relaxing atmosphere. The second programme offers the inmates English classes and has been very well received.
