Breaking the Cycle of Crime

Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Programme

In Costa Rica, as in most of the world, prisoners' children are likely to follow their parents into prison.  PF Costa Rica's "Seeds of Love" Project is working to make this devasting trend a thing of the past.  The primary aim of the project is straight-forward, to keep these at-risk children in school.  Psychological counselling, spiritual guidance, family celebrations, and educational suppport are the four pillars of the project.

Often, however, keeping a child in school is as simple as providing a basic set of school supplies which the parents cannot afford. "My daughters are very grateful to you . . . All of us were crying with happiness," said one mother of five when her daughters received school supplies from PF.

Can you spare $20 to provide support and materials to keep a prisoner's child in school and, just as important, on the path to a productive life.  Help keep these children from following in their parents' footsteps.

Outings for the Youngest Victims of Crime

A Program for Young Children Living in Prison

In Peru young children often live in the prison with their mother.  Some of the youngest children have never seen life outside the prison walls.  At Santa Monica Prison alone, there are 60 children under the age of 4.  PF Peru wishes to introduce these children to the world they will one day join by taking them on fun and educational excursions.

PF staff recently took a large group of 2- and 3-year-old children on their first trip to the beach followed by lunch at a small farm where many of the children saw their first animals.  “You cannot even imagine how happy they were,” shared the PF Peru Board Chairperson, ”it was a beautiful time.”

For as little as $20, you can make a group of children smile as they escape the grey walls of prison. Make possible a picnic at a park, a trip to the library, a visit to the zoo!

Medical Care for the World's Neediest

Medical Assistance Projects in Prisons

In many prisons around the world, extreme overcrowding, poor ventilation, food shortages and substandard sanitation conditions lead to the rapid spread of serious and chronic diseases among prisoners.  The limited resources of some developing nations often result in inadequate or non-existent medical care for these sick prisoners. Unfortuntely, a prison sentence can and sometimes does become a death sentence.

PFI partners with relief organizations to mobilize teams of volunteer doctors and nurses to provide short term medical assistance to prisoners.  Projects typically serve between 1,000 to 7,000 prisoners.

Your donation will enable us to provide medical care to some of the world’s neediest individuals. Upcoming trips include Jamaica and Malawi.
