PFI’S Global Assistance Programme and Partners: Hands-on Help
One way PFI expresses the love of Christ to prisoners is through the Global Assistance Programme and Partners (GAPP) consisting of one or two week projects in which volunteers provide medical care and other services to prisoners, prison staff and their families. These projects offer medical and non-medical volunteers an opportunity to serve “the least of these.” Volunteers pay their own airfare and a modest amount for in-country expenses.
Each project is carefully planned in cooperation with local Prison Fellowship leaders as well as government and prison authorities. Volunteers work alongside national doctors to ensure that the impact of each Global Assistance project continues long after the team has left.
The Global Asisstance Programme Aims to:
- Share the love of Jesus Christ with prisoners through words and actions
- Support and encourage local ministry staff and volunteers
- Meet the immediate health needs of prisoners
- Provide health education, advocacy and resources for a long-term impact.
GAPP meets prisoners in their place of need. Global Assistance projects take place in many of the more than one hundred countries where PFI is active. Previous teams have served in Armenia, Benin, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cote D’Ivoire, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Honduras, Latvia, Madagascar, Malawi, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, and Zambia.
Join us! The 2009 GAPP schedule includes Mozambique, Malawi, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe.
