PF Programme has Impact in Zambia
PF Zambia has had much success with the Sycamore Tree Project® in the country's prisons.
Since implementing the Sycamore Tree Project® (STP) less than three years ago, PF Zambia has already completed six programmes in the country’s prisons. They recently held an STP programme for the first time in the larger Kamfinsa Prison, with very favourable results. “The programme was well received by both the prison authorities and the participants themselves,” comments Regina Ndaipeni, PF Zambia STP Project Coordinator. The Prison Chaplain was also impressed with the programme and PF Zambia, saying the ministry brings “true rehabilitation to the inmates.” One of the prisoner participants admitted to harbouring feelings of resentment and revenge toward his victims and the police for sending him to prison. The Sycamore Tree Project® gave him a new perspective, “I came to realize that I should be responsible for my actions,” he said. “We can’t change our past,” the prisoner participants wrote in a letter to the STP facilitators, “but we can change our future.”
