Introduction and Recent News

PF Lesotho is a non-denominational Christian charity working with prisoners and their families since 2001. PF Lesotho provides outreach and support with the assistance of dedicated volunteers. Mentoring, legal assistance, restorative justice programmes, and evangelization have given tremendous relief to inmates. In 2009, PF Lesotho sponsored a training event on restorative justice for members of the Lesotho Correctional Service.

PF Lesotho is serving shepherd boys who are at risk for criminal behavior through workshops and team-building exercises.

Reaching the marginalized in Lesotho

In late August, PF Lesotho partnered with World Vision for a three day workshop titled “Community Building Agents.” Serving 20 young males known as “herd boys” the workshop sought to raise awareness about the harm of crime and the responsibility for actions taken.

Facilitating Restorative Justice in Lesotho

Each November, PF Lesotho organises several events to commemorate Restorative Justice Week. For 2009, the ministry had intended to pursue the low cost approach of sending volunteers into churches to encourage participation in the commemoration and teach about the concepts of restorative justice. However, a phone call from the Minister of Justice, Human Rights and the Correctional Service changed their plans.

Restorative Justice Training for Corrections Personnel

Recently, PF Lesotho sponsored a two-week training event on restorative justice for members of the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS). Thirty-five participants including prison chaplains and correctional rehabilitation officers participated in the event held at the Lesotho Training Centre.
