Introduction and Recent News

Chartered in 1985, Prison Fellowship Bahamas has provided spiritual help and healing for inmates and ex-prisoners for 25 years. These programmes and activities are made possible by the dedicated service of over 75 caring volunteers. PF Bahamas is active in the only penitentiary in the nation, and provides services for over 600 prisoners. When leaving prison, some of these ex-offenders will receive assistance in reintegrating back into the community at PF Bahama's successful halfway house located in Nassau.

PF Bahamas launches the Sycamore Tree Project®

On 3 November, PF Bahamas held the first session of the Sycamore Tree Project®(STP) after six months of preparatory work. As a part of the programme launch, the national ministry, along with the Bahamas Prison Service, hosted an opening ceremony attended by the Commissioner of Prisons and the Minister for Social Development. With permission of the six victim and six prisoner participants, several press organisations also sent representatives to the opening ceremony.

With its new "Youth Arm," Prison Fellowship Bahamas is aiming to prevent teens from being ensnared in the trap of crime and its consequences before they end up in prison.
