Sick prisoners in many countries must go without medical treatment due to lack of resources. Click below to read how PF ministries in Guyana and Colombia came to their aid.

colombia gapThanks to the efforts of Prison Fellowship volunteers, staff and outside aid agencies, prisoners in Guyana and Colombia recently received personalized medical care they might otherwise have not had access to.  Both PF Guyana and PF Colombia recently conducted PFI’s Global Assistance Medical Programmes inside the prisons there.  PF Guyana held medical, dental and eyeglass clinics at all five of the country’s prisons.  In addition to the volunteers from Humedica, a Germany-based non-profit medical aid organisation, PF Colombia also provided volunteer dentists, nurses, doctors, psychologists and interpreters for five days of work in that country’s prisons.  Both ministries report that the teams were successful in helping not just the sick prisoners, but also those seeking to know more about God and the Christian faith.  One prisoner in Guyana was so impressed by the “evident love of Christ” in the team that he renounced his other religion and announced his intention to become a Christian.  Prisoners in Colombia also heard the Good News from the medical team of volunteers, who distributed Christian literature and prayed with the prisoners.  “Many who were not seen by the doctors were touched by the grace of God through the reflections on the Word in the prison patios,” recalls Udsy de Luque, PFI’s Regional Envoy for Central America.
